Stop in at Island Rides Bicycle rentals for a truely enjoyable Door County Island experience. Touring Washington Island the old-fashioned way... foot & pedal has been compared by some to a peaceful State Park feeling as you ride along our majestic tree lined roadways, the golden Capital Brewery wheat fields & miles of scenic shorelines. We are located on the Dor Cros Inn property & close to the ferry dock. Coming to the Island with out your car... no problem we *deliver to the Ferry dock area.
The Island is a community steeped in history beginning as early as 1635, Washington Island has been a part of maritime and commercial history in the greatest of the Great Lakes, Lake Michigan. Settled in 1850, Washington Island is the second oldest Icelandic settlement in America. Then, and now, Washington Island offers those who visit, natural wonders along with contemporary pleasures, a quiet tranquility of peaceful surroundings and a friendly community.
This is truely a paradise for bikers. While touring for the day or the week discover a favorite fishing hole, sailing spot or take a dive into our pristine swimming waters. Just some of the simple pleasures at your finger tips. While cruising on our bikes visit unique museums to learn of our history. Take time to set the bike a side and jump on the passenger ferry, the "Karfi", to explore the many trails of Rock Island State Park along with the first and oldest lighthouse in these waters, the Potawatomi. Take in an art show, theatre or musical performance. Browse shops offering distinctive Island products and regional artist's creations. Enjoy a round of golf or the Island Zoo that raises exotic animals; treat yourself to a delicious meal at one of our fine restaurants and experience food that is unique to our area including one of our famous fish boils, a tasty brew or bread made from our local grain. At the end of the day stop back at the Dor Cros Inn... decide to check in and we will apply your days rental toward your stay with us.
Island Rides Bicycle Rental Rates
There is a 2-4 hour minimum. We provide bicycle helmets with our rentals at no additional charge. In the State of Wisconsin helmets are required for children 16 & under. Don't forget to take advantage of our daily or multiple day rental discounts. MC/V/Discover Accepted.
*Reservation Policy & Delivery Options
If you are renting bikes for the day you can call the morning of and we will reserve what you need. If you are renting 3 days or longer we can begin your reservation at any time.
*Same Day reservations (with est. arrival) & 1 week rentals accepted with credit card & email address to secure reservation. We deliver free to the ferry dock and we will deliver and/or pick up our bikes from any other Island location of your choosing ($5 for 1-4 bikes, $10 for 5-8 bikes, $15 for 9-12 bikes).
